Meet the Doctors
After many years of dedicated service to the community, Dr. Robert F. Cannis has passed the care of the practice to Dr. Thin Sandar Khine. We are grateful for the foundation Dr. Cannis built and the many patients and families he has had the privilege of serving over the years.
As the practice moves forward as Kind by Khine Dental, Dr. Khine is honored to continue that legacy while bringing her own passion for comprehensive, personalized, and compassionate dental care. She looks forward to welcoming both longtime patients and new members of the community and building lasting relationships for years to come.
Dr. Thin Sandar Khine
Dr. Thin Sandar Khine was born in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma). She earned her first dental degree from the University of Dental Medicine, Yangon, in 2007. Driven by a passion for advancing her knowledge and skills in dentistry, she moved to the United States to pursue further education and training.
While preparing to enter an advanced standing dental program in the U.S., Dr. Khine completed the Dental Technician program at Pasadena City College in 2016 and became a Certified Dental Technician. Her background as a dental technician has given her a strong foundation in restorative dentistry, aesthetics, and precision craftsmanship.
In 2019, Dr. Khine was accepted into the Advanced Standing DMD program at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated in 2021. During her time at Tufts, she consistently excelled academically and was named to the Dean’s List for her outstanding performance. She also received numerous prestigious awards and scholarships, including the Quintessence Award, the PTC John Ness Memorial Education Grant, the first-ever Custom Automated Prosthetics Education Grant, the Tennyson Study Club Award, the Vocational Service Award from the Altadena Rotary Club, and the Pillar Scholarship.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Khine has completed a Maxi Course in Implant Dentistry, further expanding her expertise in implant treatment to better serve her patients. She is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). Beginning in September, she will also serve as a Clinical Associate at NYU participating in the Full Mouth Reconstruction Continuing Education Program.
Dr. Khine enjoys practicing comprehensive general dentistry because it allows her to provide a wide range of treatments tailored to each patient’s individual needs. She is known for her compassionate, gentle approach and is dedicated to creating a comfortable, positive experience for every patient. She believes in listening carefully to her patients, welcoming their feedback, and working together to achieve healthy, confident smiles.
Outside the office, Dr. Khine enjoys traveling, exploring new destinations, and experiencing different cuisines. She embraces every opportunity to discover new places and cultures, bringing the same curiosity and enthusiasm to both her personal life and professional career.
